AL is a contemporary artist working in the realm of abstract expressionism. Her work serves as both a personal reflection and a response to the broader state of the world and what it means to exist as an individual in it. It is highly immersive and movement based, and invites the viewer to contemplate their relationship to themselves and the wider world.

AL’s practice is a space where personal experience intersects with political reality, where emotions can be revealed and released. Each piece is an act of exploration and an attempt at connection and understanding, where paint becomes a visible language for the unutterable and unnamed.

Currently based in Naarm, AL is inspired by nature, music and poetry. Her practice spans painting, drawing, and photography. She has completed studies in both art and photography and she has exhibited in group and independent shows across Naarm, Meanjin and Toowoomba.

AL acknowledges that she is working on stolen land. She pays respect to the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land, waterways and skies on which she lives and works, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, and recognises that sovereignty was never ceded.
